Keeping it in the community since 1954

The G. Frank Thomas Foundation has been a Frederick County, Maryland institution for over 70 years. Born in Adamstown in 1886, George Franklin Thomas himself was from a farming family and it was his affinity for farming combined with his entrepreneurial passion that led to the rise of the Adamstown Canning and Supply Company, the Frederick Trading Company, and several other canning organizations within Frederick County and several other canning companies along what is now the I-270 corridor. A student of Frederick County Public Schools and a lifelong resident of Frederick, G. Frank realized that much of his success was based around the community that raised him and in the 1950s, he chose to reimburse that support by incorporating the G. Frank Thomas Foundation as a nonprofit private foundation and reinvesting in the community that invested in him.

Seven decades later, the board members of the G. Frank Thomas Foundation still strive to keep G. Frank's mission alive by working with other nonprofits that truly stand as pillars and support systems for our Frederick County neighbors, and partnering with their causes through grants to help keep our community successful and thriving. Having worked with over 40 nonprofits in the area and awarded well over 300 grants over our life time, we approach every new partnership with same mindset of keeping enrichment within the community that built us!
